It is an honor to again train to run the Chicago Marathon. I I am an able-bodied runner and Running has become an important part of my life. I am inspired by those who overcome obstacles to become their best selves and I am proud to support a local organization that supports atheletes of all abilities with adaptive equipment, programming, scholarships, encouragement and more. Glasa's (great lakes adaptive sports association) mission is to help youth and adults, including wounded military personnel with physical or visual disabilities get back in the game". And 93 cents of every dollar raised goes directly into Glasa programming.
This will be my third marathon and my second for charity. I enjoy the challenge of training and racing while raising my family (2 littles and one hubby) and maintaining my limited private counseling practice.
At 2 years old, I experienced a childhood lawn mower accident, which is the top cause of childhood amputations every year and every day I am keenly aware and grateful for the abilities I do have, scars and all.Help me help others experience the joy of running and sports.
